Never remove the key from
ignition switch during driving as
this will cause steering wheel lock.
Starting the engine
Combustion engine vehicle
Turn key to position MAR to release
the steering wheel lock.
Operate clutch and brake pedal.
Do not operate accelerator pedal.
Wait until control indicator

extinguishes.
Turn key briefly to position AVV and
release after the engine has been
started.
During an Autostop, the engine can
be started by depressing the clutch
pedal

Starting the vehicle at low
temperatures
Starting the engine without additional
heaters is basically possible.
Required is an engine oil with the
correct viscosity, the correct fuel,
performed services and a sufficiently
charged vehicle battery. At low
temperaures, the automatic
transmission requires a warming
phase of approx. 5 minutes. The
selector lever must be in position N
and the parking brake applied.
Turbo engine warm-up
Upon start-up, engine available
torque may be limited for a short time,
especially when the engine
temperature is cold. The limitation is
to allow the lubrication system to fully
protect the engine.
Electric vehicle
● Operate the brake pedal and with
the parking brake applied, turn
key briefly to position AVV and
release it. A corresponding
message appears in the rear
view mirror display.
● Do not operate the accelerator
pedal.
● Depress the brake pedal
completely, then press D or R on
the gear selector
