Felling a tree
Before felling a tree, consider carefully all conditions including the intended direction of the fall,
the natural lean of the tree, surrounding trees and obstacles, the wind direction and speed.
Directional cut
Cut a wedge (1/3-1/2 of tree diameter) out of the trunk on the side which you want the tree to
fall.
Felling cut
Cut into the trunk from the other side 3-6 cm above the wedge.
Use a felling wedge to help control felling and prevent binding the guide bar and saw chain in the
cut.
