7.14 Stall Warning / Angle Advisory
The RV-7A has, although rather benign in its stall
characteristics, little to no advance warning of an
impending stall, especially in landing configurations
and at aft c.g.
Therefore an Advanced Flight Systems AOA Sport
Angle of Attack system is installed. By combining
pitot/static pressures with two additional ports on
the outer top and bottom of the left wing, it is
capable of calculating the current angle of attack. The result
is displayed by a row of stacked LED’s in the left seat’s field of
view between the EFIS and the canopy as well as a voice
callout “ANGLE ANGLE PUSH” once a critical angle is
achieved. The system has two associated buttons mainly
used for calibration. In normal operation, the TS

when pressed for 2 seconds triggers a system self-test. The

DIM button switches brightness of the LED’s to a lower
setting.
There is a flap microswitch

flap microswitch which triggers at about 10° of
flaps, shifting between two internal AOA tables, one clean
and one with flaps.
Also, the tiny AOA pressure ports on the wings need to be
drained by pushing with a pin through the provided guide
from the bottom.
The audio warning depends on the AP-60 audio mixer
which is in turn powered by the “Aux Box” circuit.
