4.13 Changing the seals on the hydraulic rams

NOTE!

During service work on the hydraulic system, the wing sections and the drill must be fully

lowered, with no pressure in their hydraulic systems. Before service work on the folding and
weight transfer systems, see

”4.15 Bleeding the hydraulic system accumulators” on page 82.

Remove the rams completely from the drill before changing the seals.

4.13.1

Changing the seals on the master and slave rams

The following applies to the lifting and tool bar systems.

Loosen and unscrew the piston rod guide (A) using the special key (B).

Pull out the piston rod and change the seals.

NOTE!

Be very sure that the seals are facing the

correct way.

Carefully check that the collar (C) is free of scratches.

Refit the ram.

When changing the seals, clean the transfer grooves/holes with a fine abrasive cloth drawn length-
ways along the ram.

NOTE!

Check that the seals are fitted correctly. If necessary, change the seals on the piston rod

guides (A).

Re-mount the ram on the drill and bleed the master and slave system, see

”2.9 Adjusting sowing

depth” on page 22.

4.13.2

Changing the seals on other rams

Follow the procedure in

”4.13.1 Changing the seals on the master and slave rams” on page 80.

Note that other rams do not have fixing cuffs or transfer grooves.
