Pr ofil es

The Pr ofibus DP pr otocol defines how user  data ar e to be tr ansmitted between the stations over  the
bus. User  data ar e not eval uated by the Pr ofibus DP tr ansmission pr otocol . The meaning is specified
in the pr ofiles. In addition, the pr ofiles specify how Pr ofibus DP is to be used in the application ar ea.
The fol lowing Pr ofibus DP pr ofile is used in VACON NX Pr ofibus Fiel dbus boar d.

Var iabl e Speed Dr ive Pr ofile (3.071)

Leading manufactur er s of dr ive technology have jointl y defined the PROFIDRIVE pr ofile. The pr ofile
specifies how the dr ives ar e to be par ameter ized and how the setpoints and actual val ues ar e to be
tr ansmitted. This enabl es dr ives fr om differ ent vendor s to be exchanged. The pr ofile contains neces-
sar y specifications for  speed contr ol and positioning. It specifies the basic dr ive functions while leav-
ing sufficient fr eedom for  application- specific expansions and fur ther  developments. The pr ofile de-
scr ibes the mapping of the application functions for  DP or  FMS.
