12. Realtime Clock (RTC)
PiGear Nano uses PCF85063 realtime clock for system time keeping, and the RTC talks to
Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 via I2C-1 interface.
PCF85063 has very small quiescent current (0.22µA) and PiGear Nano uses a 3V 1F supper
capacitor (BT1) for off-power time keeping. There is no need to use battery to keep the system time
when the board is not powered.
PCF85063 has an alarm. When this alarm is triggered, it will pull down GLOBAL_EN on Raspberry Pi
Compute Module 4, and will reboot the system. If the system has been shut down and the power is
not cut (e-latch power switch is bypassed), this alarm can wake up the system again.
The software provides the options to use this alarm to reboot/wake up the system, or use it as a
