while the monitor is turned off.
4.4 Attaching the Sensor to the Patient
WARNING! Prolonged use or the patient’s condition may require
changing the sensor site periodically. Change sensor site
and check skin integrity, circulatory status, and correct
alignment at least every 4 hours.
Attaching the patient to the monitor requires these steps:
1. Choose the
sensor.
2. Check the sensor and oximetry
cable.
3. Clean or disinfect the sensor if
using the reusable type (Disposable sensors
are for single-patient use and do not require cleaning or disinfecting).
4. Attach the sensor to the patient.
4.4.1 Choosing the Sensor
WARNING! Before use, carefully read the sensor directions for use,
including all warnings, cautions, and instructions.
Choose the appropriate sensor from the following chart.
