OPERATING  PROCEDURE

TO  RE CE IVE :

The  G R A N T   opérâtes  on  40  A M   channels,  40  Upper  Side  Band  channels  and  40

Lower Side  Band channels.

When  you  receive the S S B  signal  in the proper mode  (USB or  LSB), audio sound may

be  either  too  high  pitched  or  low  pitched,  indicating  that  your  receiver  may  not be

tuned  to  the  exact  same  frequency  as  the  transmitter  to  which  it  is  listening.  The
G R A N T   is  equipped  with  a  Clarifier.  By tuning the Clarifier, you сап slightly change
the frequency of the  receiver so you get a normal  tone.

1.  Place  the  P A   switch  in  C B  function  -   by  turning  S Q U E L C H   control  clockwise,

past click.

2.  Turn the set on  by turning the V O L U M E  C O N T R O L  clockwise,  past click.

N O T E:  Microphone must be plugged in for receiver to operate.

3.  Set the V O L U M E  C O N T R O L  to a comfortable  level.

4.  Set the Mode Selector Switch to the desired mode.

5.  Listen  to the background noise from the speaker. Turn the S Q U E L C H  C O N T R O L

slowly  clockwise,  until  the  noise  just  disappears.  The  Squelch  is  now  properly

adjusted.  The  receiver  will  remain  quiet  until  a  signal  is received.  Do not advance
the control  too far, or some of the weaker signais will  not be heard.

6.  Set the Channel  Selector to the desired channel.

7.  Adjust the C L A R IF IE R  to clearly  receive S S B  or A M  signais.

TO  TRAN SM IT:

----------------------------------   CA U TIO N   ----------------------------------

The  transceiver  Voltage  Standing  Wave  Ratio  (V.S.W.R.)  measurement  must
be  performed  prior  to  the  use  of  the  transmitter.  A.V.S.W.R.  ratio  in excess
of 2:1  may damage the transmitter.

1.  Be  sure  the  operator  has  read  and  understands  part  95,  F.C.C.  Rules and  Régula

tions prior to operating the transmitter.

2.  Select the desired channel.

3.  If  the  channel  is  elear,  depress  the  push-to-talk  switch  on  the  microphone  and

speak  in a  normal  voice.
