4.1 Adjustment of the working width
The actual working width is determined by physical qualities of the used fertiliser. The most
important ones include the following: grain-size distribution, specific weight, slipperiness of the
external surface as well as moisture content. Depending on the fertiliser type,

discs (Fig.
3) enable operating with different working widths.

In order to achieve different working width values (the distance between the paths), the
blades are gradually repositioned in the openings around the rotation point (Fig. 3/1).
Moving the blades in line with the disc rotation direction (Fig. 3/a) (toward the higher
value on the scale) increases the working width. Moving the blades in the opposite
direction (Fig. 3/b) decreases the working width. Short blades cover the internal range
of the working width, whereas the long ones
– the external range.
