Operating the device

• Slide the device onto the centre of the inside
of the forearm, directly on the wrist. The palm
of your hand should be facing upwards. The
distance between the wrist and the upper
edge of the cuff should be 5–10 mm.
• Fasten the cuff using the hook and loop fastening.
The shape of the cuff is optimized to sit very tightly in order to avoid pos-
sible measurement errors.
5-10
mm
The measurements should be performed while seated. In special cases,
measurements in a lying position are also possible.
8. Body position during the measurement
The results for measurements taken in a sitting and lying position may
differ slightly.
Sit at a dining table, lean your back against the
backrest of the chair and bend your arm so that
your arm is exactly at heart level. Place your feet
on the ground and do not cross your legs.
Lay on your back, place the device on your wrist
and at the height of your heart, e.g. by supporting
it with a pillow. To relax before the measurement,
take 2-3 deep breaths.
• Do not bend your wrist.
• Keep your hand relaxed, not tightened, do not make a fist.
• It is important to keep your arm calm and not to speak during the
measurement.
If the cuff is in a higher or lower position than the heart, the measured
value might be higher or lower, respectively.

Please pay attention to the following:
The device is designed for two users. The values for the two users are
stored separately and can also be evaluated separately.
You may also use the two user memories to evaluate measurements tak-
en in morning and those taken in the evening separately. To do this, carry
out the measurement in the morning using user 1 and in the evening using
user 2.
9. Selecting the user
• Before taking the measurement, check that the correct user is dis-
played.
• To change the user, press the user button for whose memory bank you
want to switch over to.
Also, you will be given another opportunity to assign the measurement
to the correct user after the measurement has been taken (see page 44).
• Now carry out the measurement.
• Switch the device on using the Start/Stop but-
ton. The following display appears (Figure 1):
• After the device has completed its calibration
against the ambient air pressure (Figure 2),
the automatically controlled inflation process
starts after three short beeps.
