The internal backup heating function is used for operating the electrothermal
station for backup heating with current from the mains. For this purpose, the power
stages of the power unit and the pump (R1) switch on. The switch-on and switch-off
temperatures Ton and Toff are used as reference parameters.
If the temperature falls below the adjusted threshold Ton, the power stages and the
relay switch on. They switch off, if the temperature exceeds Toff.
S3 is used as the reference sensor (non adjustable).

The external backup heating function is used for operating the electrothermal
station for backup heating by means of an external heat source (e.g. heat pump, solid
fuel boiler). The switch-on and switch-off temperatures Ton and Toff are used as
reference parameters.
If the temperature falls below the adjusted threshold Ton, R2 energises at 100 %. It
switches off, if the temperature exceeds Toff.
S3 is used as the reference sensor (non adjustable).
