levelprox

non-invasive ultrasonic level sensor

LPRE-M30-AP6X2-H1141

Short description

levelprox

sensors detect liquids through the wall of a container. They generate a high

frequency ultrasonic pulse whose echo is detected and evaluated by the sensor. The
sensor compares the detected echo curve with the curves taught during teach-in,
representing a filled and an empty container and sets its output accordingly.

Two operation modes can be adjusted via the TEACH line or the TEACH adapter
VB2-SP1:
1. In the

reverberation mode,

the reflection of the inner container wall adjacent to the

sensor is evaluated. Air bubbles or solid particles in the medium hardly affect the
sensor, whereas residues on the inner container wall will induce the sensor to switch.

2. In the

echo mode

, the sound reflected by the inner container wall opposite the

sensor is evaluated. Residues on the interior of the container do not affect the sensor.
However, if the container incorporates stirring devices or if the medium is
contaminated or contains air bubbles, problems can occur in this mode.

Sensor mounting via the holding device LP-MZ-M30-SB

For sensor mounting use the holding device that can either be welded or attached to the
container wall via the retaining straps (see accessories shown below). Effective and low-
loss coupling of the ultrasound to the container wall is a precondition for error-free sensor
function. This can only be ensured, if the coupling point on the container wall is clean.
Therefore it is necessary to remove old paint, rust or grease prior from this point prior to
mounting the sensor.

1. Weld or attach the holding device to the container wall using the retaining straps.
2. Attach a thin layer of the silicone grease OKS 1110 to the sonic transducer of sensor

(see drawing).

3. Turn the sensor into the holding device manually until the sonic transducer touches the

container wall (you will feel a slight resistance).

4. In order to ensure a  constant pressing force, the spring mounted sonic transducer

must be pressed into the sensor. For this, continue to screw-in the sensor until the
rigid frame of the transducer touches the counter wall (you will experience a  stronger
resistance). Stop turning in the sensor to prevent damage.
