Figure 5.4.1d shows the autopilot in GPSS mode (see section
5.3.3 for GPSS mode) and
SVS mode.

NOTE: There is a special case of vertical speed when zero (0) is
selected. This is not altitude hold, but will maintain zero vertical
speed. This mode allows the aircraft to vary in altitude, and in heavy
turbulence will give a smoother ride to the occupants. The SVS zero
mode is shown in figure 5.4.1e.
