7.52. Drive the tiller shaft to the left, forcing the bronze
tiller shaft bushing out of the transmission hous-
ing using a block of wood and a large hammer.
See Figure 7.52.
NOTE:
The inner spacer will be damaged by the
Woodruff key.
7.53. Remove the bronze bushing and spacer from
the tiller shaft.
NOTE:
The lubrication cut a ways on the bronze
bushing face in during assembly. See Figure
7.53.
7.54. Slide the tiller shaft back into the housing until
the Woodruff key contacts the tiller shaft worm
gear.
7.55. Rotate the tiller shaft worm gear until the Woo-
druff key slides into the key-way.
7.56. Drive the tiller shaft to the right, forcing the
bronze tiller shaft bushing out of the transmis-
sion housing using a block of wood and a ham-
mer.
7.57. Remove the bronze bushing and spacer from
the tiller shaft.
NOTE:
The lubrication cut a ways on the bronze
bushing face in during assembly.
7.58. Grasp the tine shaft worm gear with one hand,
and remove the tine shaft with the other.
NOTE:
Make certain the tine shaft worm gear
does not drop to the bottom of the transmission
housing.
7.59. Remove the Woodruff key from the tine shaft
using a punch and a hammer.
7.60. Inspect the tine shaft assembly components for
wear or damage. See Figure 7.60.
