How to produce a Seal Press
A Seal press is used to perforate paper by using a positive and a negative die. The
paper is put between them so that after compressing the stamping is vi sible.
To reach great clearance the negative (female) side must be enlarged to
prevent the paper from piercing through when the positive (male) side of
the seal presses into the negative side.
Description for Corel Draw 9:
Steps for creating a seal press:
1. Create the bottom part as graphic with white objects on black background
(positive)
2. For the top side use enlarged mirrored black objects on white background:
-
Make a copy of the positive and mirror it.
-
If there are Outlines in the image that are dotted select them and
chose Arrange>Convert Outline to Object
Change the Outline thickness to 0.5mm (color white)
-
Select all filled Objects, chose Arrange>Convert to Curves and alter
the Outline thickness to 0.5mm (color white)
-
Invert the image: Effects>Transform>Invert
3. Now you can draw a cut line around positive and negative and run the job. The
engraving depth should reach approximately 0.8mm.
