15 - Advice for Routine Maintenance and Use
Do not dive into the pool. Do not walk on the step stones.
Failure to comply with the routine maintenance instructions can cause serious health risks,
particularly for children.
Filtration
It is essential to have a satisfactory filtration system to eliminate suspended matter (sand-based
purifier, filtering skimmer, etc.).
During the season in which your pool is in use, the filtration system should be run every day for a
sufficiently long period of time to ensure at least one turnover of the volume of water every 24 hours
(the minimum length of time during for which the filtration system should be run will depend on how
much the pool is used and on the water temperature). You are recommended to divide the filtration
period into three time spells.

Accessories
The following accessories are essential for satisfactory routine maintenance of your pool: surface
accessories (such as strainer), pool-bottom accessories (such as a cleaning machine), and inspection
and repair accessories (such as a repair kit).
Chemical Treatment
3 operations are necessary for treating the water:
Adjustment of the pH of the water, using an analysis kit and a pH corrector.
The pH (potential hydrogen) indicates the degree of acidity or alkalinity of the water. The ideal level for
a swimming pool is a pH as close as possible to that of lacrymal liquid, i.e. 7.4.
Prevention of algae, using an algae-prevention product.
Disinfection of the water, using chlorinated products to kill micro-organisms.
These operations should be performed at least once a week.
Water treatment products should be stored away from damp, in ventilated premises, and out of reach
of children.
WARNING: Never pour chlorine directly into the swimming pool
ADVICE!
Place a receptacle filled with water at the foot of the ladder, so as to rinse one’s feet on entering and
leaving the pool.
A heat-insulating sheet (incorporating small air liners or bubbles) will allow you to enjoy your pool to
the utmost, as it will heat the water, prevent heat loss during the night, prevent leaves and insects from
falling into the water, and prevent evaporation of the chlorine.
Filling and Emptying
You are recommended to fill the pool until the top of the skimmer is just above water level.
