Crushed Glass Placement
It is better to use too little crushed glass than too much.
Excessive glass, especially when using
propane (LP), will lead to sooting. Place the glass as thinly as possible over the burner ports for optimum
burner performance.
LP Units
: Make sure the glass is a maximum 1 layer thick on or near the burner
NG Units
: Make sure the glass is a maximum 2 layers thick on or near the burner.
If the glass is too thick it will impair burner performance and create soot.
Make sure the pilot opening is not obscured with glass. Clear away glass, if necessary, to ensure the
pilot flame lights the burner quickly.
1
Remove and discard the lock-tie holding the temporary pilot guard. Replace the guard over the pilot
as shown below. This prevents crushed glass from falling into the pilot assembly.
2
Install the crushed glass on the media tray as shown below. The glass should cover the glass tray
and be dispersed evenly.
3
Remove the temporary pilot guard and place it below the gas control valve for later use.
