Congratulations on your purchase of the Tour Links Training Aid system. You are well on
your way to saying goodbye to three putts forever.
The Tour Links Training Aid comes in 2 different sizes. Simply follow the set up
instructions and you’re ready to go.
You will notice that the foot stand can be used on
either side for left and right-handed golfers and positioned anywhere along the length of
the green to create a variety in length of putts.
The Training Aid comes with six different devices designed to give immediate feedback on
your putting stroke.
The String Guide
is used to indicate club path. It will become obvious if your club is
following down a straight path to the hole or running inside out or outside in. Work on
creating the path that consistently results in the ball following the path of the string
directly into the cup.
The Stroke Groover Block
was designed for several different exercises. Firstly if you flip
the Block over you will see that a golf ball can be inserted into the depression and
marked to create an even line on the ball to aid in alignment. This mark is totally legal to
use on the course and is great for lining up putts. Place the ball under the string with the
line on the ball directly under the string. When you strike the ball you will quickly see if
the ball was stuck pure by watching to see if the line on the ball rolls end-over-end or if
it wobbles down the green. We are looking for a very smooth end-over-end roll on the
ball.
Position the Stroke Groover on the opposite side of the string from your body. You will
see that the block has numbers on top. Place the 0 directly across from the ball. When
putting use the numbers to make sure that your follow through is equal to or longer than
your back stroke. This will help in preventing deceleration. The block is also used to
control club path. Position the block in such a way that the toe of the putter just barely
touches the block. Now take you normal stroke. Try to keep the toe against the block for
the length of the stroke. This will begin to give you the feeling of being square at impact.
This can be used in either a pendulum style stroke or an arc style stroke. If your natural
stroke is an arc, position the block in the same manner but try not to bump the block on
your backstroke or follow through. This will tell you if you are creating a perfect arc
during your swing.
At the very end of the green you placed a small
white hash mark
in the middle of the
rear panel. With the flag stick in the hole and your body positioned on the foot stand,
take your natural putting stance. Lean your body in or out, or adjust your stance forward
or back until the strip disappears behind the flag stick. Once the white strip disappears,
your eyes are directly over the ball, the position that all great putters strive for. Begin to
practice your stroke. Repetition is the key. Once you feel confident, remove the block and
the string and continue your practice session.
As you begin to feel more and more comfortable, you can now remove the flag stick and
drop in the
cup reducing ring
. This is a great tool for teaching yourself to aim for the
center of the cup.
You can begin to practice subtle breaks by placing the
foam contour pads
under the
carpet as shown in this manual. You can easily achieve left to right and right to left
breaks. The string guide can also be moved along the back panel to continue to act as an
alignment guide for breaking putts. Remember that every putt is a straight putt, so use
the string guide on breaking putts as well as straight putts.
If you continue to practice regularly you will be amazed at the confidence you can build
with you new stroke. All it takes is a little dedication and Tour Links.
