CIX1200 Configurations
Announcing Strata CIX1200 Expanded Capacity
9 of 37
The table below shows the parts required to add expansion cabinets eight through 12. These
configurations all require an HEXBU1A processor card set installed in the Base cabinet.
When upgrading a wall/floor-mount base cabinet refer to HECP1A EMC Shield Kit on Page 27.
Each stack can be rack-mount or wall/floor-mount cabinets. Each stack is assembled according to the
procedures in the Strata CIX Installation and Maintenance Manual.
The Expansion Cabinet Equipment Stack can be a maximum of 1.86 miles (3 km) from the Base
Cabinet Equipment Stack. One RRCU circuit card connects to up to two Expansion cabinets via a
single multi-mode fiber-optic cable pair. One fiber cable pair can support one or two expansion
cabinets using one RRCU in the Base Cabinet and another in the Expansion Cabinet.
The type of cabinets in an equipment stack must be the same. Do not mix rack-mount and wall/floor
mount cabinets within a stack. The equipment stacks do not need to match. An existing wall-mount
CIX670 system can be expanded to a CIX1200 system by connecting a second equipment stack of
rack-mount expansion cabinets.
Expansion Cabinets connected by fiber optic cables support the BIOU for external Page Zones, Night
Bell, etc., and all CO line and trunk interface PCBs.
Digital Trunk Interface Card Location
For proper Strata CIX system processor Time Switch synchronization with ISDN and T1 lines must be
setup as follows.
•
PRI and T1 cards, programmed as the Primary or Secondary clock source (“System Data”
command), must be installed in the base cabinet or an expansion cabinet connected to the base
cabinet with ribbon cable.
•
Do not install Primary or Secondary clock source PRI and T1 cards in expansion cabinets
connected to the base cabinet stack with fiber cables.
