Alert message and corrective action
The following are common examples. Depending on the situation, other messages may be displayed. Follow the
operational instructions on the screen.
Others
“Unit shut off abnormally. Recorded content
may have been lost.”
This message is displayed when this unit has not shut
down properly because of a power failure or forced
shutdown in emergency. In the case of the HDD, each
time this unit starts up, the message is displayed. In
the case of the DVD-RAM disc, each time this unit
starts up with the DVD-RAM disc in the unit, or each
time disc is inserted in the unit, the message is
displayed. After this message appears, the following
messages may be displayed. After the disc is
initialized, the message may not be displayed.
“Disc cannot be detected. Clean disc or format
disc via the quick menu. (DVD)”
Or
“HDD cannot be authenticated. Try turning unit
off and on again. If problem persists, contact
service center.”
This message will appear when inserting unformatted
or differently formatted DVD-RAM. The message will
also appear in the case of disc error for some other
reasons. In this case, disc initialization is also available
however, be aware that if the recorded disc is
initialized, the recorded contents will be also deleted.
If the DVD-RAM is not recognized even after
initialization, it may be recognized by completing the
physical format on the disc.
“This operation cannot be performed during
HDD playback.”
If you stop HDD playback, you can insert or eject the
DVD disc. Basically, during playback, the operations
regarding playback are only available. While recording
data on the HDD, you can insert or eject the disc.
“Incorrect disc. Load proper disc.”
This will appear if there is no proper disc inside to
match the disc name you select from the library. Insert
the proper disc in the unit, then select the disc name
again.
“There is a problem with the disc. Playback is
the only option available. (DVD)”
This message will appear when recording is
impossible to the inserted disc. The disc will be usable
after initialization, but all the recorded contents on the
disc will also be deleted.
“Data requirements exceed 4.7GB.”
This message will appear if there is not enough free
space on the DVD-RAM disc to complete your
program. This may be due to a combination of picture
and sound quality. This message may also appear
when you try to record the data onto the HDD by the
“Auto” mode.
“The HDD has been damaged. Please contact a
service center.”
This message will appear if the unit detects an error
on the HDD. Copy the recorded contents of the HDD,
and library data to DVD-RAM discs, and call a
customer service center. Never keep using the unit, as
it may aggravate problem, such as the unit may not
turn on.
“?????”
This message will appear when the unit cannot make
the playlist, because the chapter limit has exceeded
on the disc. Stop making the playlist or delete
unnecessary playlists, then make the new playlist
again.
“Library is full. Delete unnecessary content to
create additional space.”
This library has reached maximum allowable
registered data. Back up or delete some data to
reduce the amount of registered data.
“Timer Programing schedule is full.”
This message will appear when the number of
programs has reached disc limits.
“Recording is prohibited.”
This message will appear when you try to record copy-
protected software or broadcasting.
“Source content is copy protected. Recording
has been terminated automatically.”
This message will appear when you try to record a
copy-never title. The recording will not be completed.
