2. Updating the Firmware in Network Interface Card

You can update the firmware in the Network Interface Card from the personal computer using
FTP Download utility or Flash Update utility according to your network environment.

•

FTP Download:

This utility is used to update the firmware in the Network Interface
Card when the NIC is connected to the computer in the TCP/IP
network environment.

•

Flash Update:

This utility is used to update the firmware in the Network Interface
Card when the NIC is connected to the computer in the NetWare
(IPX/SPX) network environment.  The NetWare client software must
be installed to Windows and the NetWare server is activated on the
network.  You must have supervisor rights on the NetWare server to
run this program.

2.1 Updating the Firmware using FTP Download

Update the firmware in the Network Interface Card from the computer using FTP Download.
Before updating, assign the IP address to the Network Interface Card if it has not been as-
signed.

NOTE:

While updating the NIC using the FTP Download, you should not access to the NIC

HTTP, ping the unit, or use Telnet to attempt to change the IP address in any fashion
since this could interfere with the FTP Download process.

(1)

Copy the update file to the local hard disk on your computer.

(2)

Click on "Start" and select "Programs".

(3)

Select the "FTP Download" in the "Programs" menu.

(4)

Click on "FTP Download" in the "FTP Download" folder.

(5)

The FTP Download screen appears.

(6)

Click on the "File" menu and click on "Download...".

(7)

The Select a file to download screen appears.

(8)

Select the folder that the update file is located at "Folders:" and select the update file at

the "File name" list.

(9)

Click on [OK].

(10) The IP Address screen appears.
(11) Enter the IP address assigned to the Network Interface Card and click on [OK].
(12) The Password screen appears.
(13) Leave "Enter Unit Password" a blank and click on [OK].
(14) The Download Status screen appears.  Start downloading.

•

Do not turn off the power of the machine during downloading.  It will cause to the fatal
dissolution of the Network Interface Card.

(15) The "Unit updated" message is displayed after it completes downloading.
(16) Click on [OK].
(17) Turn off the power of the machine and then turn it on to restart the Network Interface

Card.
