Home switch does not come ON.
●
Check that the connector (J58) of the home switch is properly
inserted.
●
Check for disconnection or short-circuiting around J4 to J58.

Carriage errors
Remove the glass and move the carriage to the paper-feed end, then turn ON the power supply
and check the following:
Q1: Is there a loud noise after the carriage hits the home position?
Q2: Is there a loud noise after the carriage moves slightly or attempts to move?

Turn OFF the power supply, and then move the carriage by
hand.
It feels as if there is backlash.
Retighten the setscrews of the scanning motor.
It feels as if the carriage gets caught halfway.
Check if the carriage is getting caught somewhere.
The carriage moves smoothly:
Check if one or more of pins J11-12~17 are discon-
nected or short-circuiting.
Also check for disconnection or short-circuiting
around IC7, J11-12~17.
