Shutting Off the Engine
CAUTION
Children or bystanders may be injured if they
move or attempt to operate the machine while it is
unattended.
Always remove the ignition key and set the parking
brake when leaving the machine unattended.
Let the engine idle at slow throttle (turtle) for 60 seconds
before turning the ignition switch off.

Important:
Make sure that the fuel-shutoff valve is
closed before transporting or storing the machine
to prevent a fuel leak. Before storing the machine,
disconnect the spark plug(s) to prevent the possibility
of accidental starting.
The Safety-Interlock System
CAUTION
If the safety-interlock switches are disconnected or
damaged, the machine could operate unexpectedly,
causing personal injury.
•
Do not tamper with the interlock switches.
•
Check the operation of the interlock switches
daily and replace any damaged switches before
operating the machine.
Understanding the Safety-Interlock
System
The safety-interlock system is designed to prevent the mower
blades from rotating unless you do 1 of the following:
•
Move either motion-control lever to the center, unlocked
position.
•
Pull the blade-control switch (PTO) to the O
N
position.
The safety-interlock system is designed to stop the mower
blades if you move or release both motion-control levers
into the N
EUTRAL
-
LOCK
position.
The hour meter has symbols to notify the user when each
interlock component is in the correct position. When the
component is in the correct position, a triangle lights up
in the corresponding square (
).
