Adjusting the Cutting Height
CAUTION
If the engine has been running, the muffler will be hot and can severely burn you.
Keep away from the hot muffler.
Adjust the cutting height as desired. Set all wheels to the same cutting height ( Figure 12 ).

Slope Safety
•
Mow across the face of slopes; never up and
down. Use extreme caution when changing
direction on slopes.
•
Do not mow on excessively steep slopes. Poor
footing could cause a slip-and-fall accident.
•
Mow with caution near drop-offs, ditches, or
embankments.
Starting the Engine
1. Hold the blade-control bar against the handle
(A of
Figure 13 ).
2. Pull the recoil-start handle lightly until you feel
resistance, then pull it sharply, and allow it to
return to the rope guide on the handle slowly (B
of
Figure 13 ).
