Replacing the Fuel Filter
DANGER
In certain conditions, gasoline is extremely
flammable and highly explosive. A fire or explosion
from gasoline can burn you and others and can
damage property.
•
Drain gasoline from the fuel tank when the
engine is cold. Do this outdoors in an open area.
Wipe up any gasoline that spills.
•
Never smoke when draining gasoline, and stay
away from an open flame or where a spark may
ignite the gasoline fumes.

Remove the (5) screws securing the fuel pump cover to
the fuel tank and remove the cover (

2.
Unplug the wire harness connectors from the fuel
pump (
).
3.
Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the fuel line
from the fuel pump cap (
).

Remove the fuel pump cap from the top of the fuel
tank (
5.
Remove the fuel pump assembly and fuel filter from
the tank (
).
6.
Remove the clamp securing the fuel filter hose to the
fuel pump fitting. Remove the hose from the fitting
(
).
7.
Insert the new hose clamp onto the new fuel filter hose.
8.
Insert the hose onto the fuel pump and secure the
clamp
9.
Insert the assembly into the fuel tank and tighten the
cap to 20 to 22 N-m (175 to 200 in-lb).
10.
Connect the wires and secure the hose with the hose
clamp.
Checking the Fuel Lines and
Connections
Check the fuel lines and connections every 400 hours or
yearly, whichever comes first. Inspect them for deterioration,
damage, or loose connections.
Fuel Pick-up Tube Screen
The fuel pick-up tube, located inside the fuel tank, is equipped
with a screen to help prevent debris from entering the fuel
system. Remove the fuel pick-up tube and clean screen as
required.
