b) Laser
• Please use the device only as intended.
• This product is provided with a Class 2 Laser. Laser signs in different languages are included
in the package. If the information on the cross-line laser is not written in the language of your
country, please affix the appropriate sign on the product.
• During operation of the product, the laser has to be directed in such a way that no person or
animal is located within the range of projection and that unwanted reflected rays (e.g. due to
reflecting surfaces/objects) do not get into the range of any person or animal.
• Laser radiation can be dangerous if the laser beam or its reflection enters unprotected eyes.
Inform yourself about the legal regulations and safety measures for using such a laser device
in your country before you use the product and the laser.
• Never look directly into the laser pointer and never aim the laser at another person or animals.
Laser radiation can cause eye injuries.
• Do not point the laser beam at mirrors or other reflective surfaces. The uncontrolled, reflected
beam may strike people or animals.
• If laser radiation reaches the eyes, the eyes must be closed immediately and the head has to
be moved out of the laser beam.
• Should your eyes feel irritated from laser radiation, do not perform any safety-related tasks
such as operating machinery, working at high altitudes or close to high-voltage components.
Do not drive any vehicles until the eye irritation has subsided.
Consult a doctor for prolonged eye irritation.
• Do not dismantle the product, except for inserting or replacing the batteries as described in this
operating manual.
• Maintenance, adjustment, or repair work should be carried out only by a specialist/special-
ist workshop. Improperly executed maintenances, adjustments, or reparations might result in
dangerous laser radiation.
• Caution - if proceeding in a different way or using any other controls than those specified in this
manual, you may expose yourself to hazardous radiation.
c) Operation
• The product must not get damp or wet, as this could damage it. Therefore, do not use the
product during precipitation, in humid environments or in/under water.
• Use the device in a moderate climate only, do not use it in a tropical climate. For more informa-
tion on acceptable environmental conditions, see the chapter “Technical Data”.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold room into a warm one.
The resulting condensation may lead to malfunctions or damage under certain circumstances!
Let the product reach room temperature before using it.
• Protect the product from dust and dirt.
• Turn the product off when it is not in use.
• If the product is not to be used for a while (e.g. storage), remove the batteries/rechargeable
batteries. Old batteries/rechargeable batteries can leak and damage the product! Afterwards
keep the product in a clean, dry, and out of children’s reach place.
Notes on primary and secondary batteries
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay attention to plus/+
and minus/-).
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; they could be swallowed by children or pets. If
swallowed, consult a doctor immediately, it could be fatal!
• Make sure that batteries/rechargeable batteries are not short-circuited, dismantled or thrown into a fire.
There is a risk of fire and explosion!
• Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries; there is a risk of explosion!
• Old or flat batteries can leak liquid chemicals that may damage the device. If not used for a longer period
(e.g., in case of storage), remove the inserted batteries/rechargeable batteries.
• Contact of leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries with the skin can cause acid burns; there-
fore, use suitable protective gloves.
• Liquids leaking from batteries are very chemically aggressive. Objects or surfaces coming into contact with
these liquids could be considerably damaged. Thus, store batteries/rechargeable batteries in a suitable
location.
• Always replace the complete set of batteries/rechargeable batteries. Do not mix batteries/rechargeable
batteries with different charges (flat and half-discharged batteries/rechargeable batteries).
• Use either batteries or rechargeable batteries; never mix standard batteries with rechargeable batteries.
Use only batteries/rechargeable batteries of the same model and type and from the same manufacturer.
• For the correct disposal of batteries, please read the chapter “Disposal”.
Operation with rechargeable batteries is possible. However, the operating time is reduced by the
lower voltage (battery = 1.5 V, rechargeable battery = 1.2 V).
Therefore, we recommend operating the product only with high-quality alkaline batteries to en-
sure long and reliable operation.
