d) Area measurement
1. Switch on the device and switch to the area
measurement mode.
2. The following symbol will appear in the top-left
corner of the display:
3. The bottom line of the parallelogram will flash
to indicate that you can measure the length of
the surface.
4. Aim at the point whose distance you want to
measure (length of the surface).
5. Press the MEAS button (3) to measure the
length of the surface.
6. The side line of the parallelogram will flash to indicate that you can measure the width of
the surface.
7. Aim at the point whose distance you want to measure (width of the surface).
8. Press the MEAS button (3) to measure the width of the surface.
9. The area will be calculated and displayed in the measurement field (15).
e) Volume measurement
1. Switch on the device and switch to the volume
measurement mode.
2. The following symbol will appear in the top-left
corner of the display:
3. The bottom line of the cuboid will flash to
indicate that you can measure the length of
the room.
4. Aim at the point whose distance you want to
measure (length of the room).
5. Press the MEAS button (3) to measure the
length of the room.
6. The side line of the cuboid will flash to indicate that you can measure the width of the room.
7. Aim at the point whose distance you want to measure (width of the room).
8. Press the MEAS button (3) to measure the width of the room.
9. The top line of the cuboid will flash to indicate that you can measure the height of the room.
10. Aim at the point whose distance you want to measure (height of the room).
11. Press the MEAS button (3) to measure the height of the room.
12. The volume will be calculated and displayed in the measurement field (15).
f) Indirect distance measurements with 2 points
The indirect measurement of distances
on the basis of 2 measurements
uses the Pythagorean theorem. It
only functions when one of the two
measurement distances forms a right
angle to the distance whose length you
wish to measure.
1. Switch on the device and switch to the indirect
measurement mode with 2 points.
2. The following symbol will appear in the top-left
corner of the display:
3. The bottom line of the triangle will flash to
indicate that you can measure the distance to the first point.
4. Aim at the point at which the desired measurement distance begins.
5. Press the MEAS button (3) to measure the distance to the start point.
6. The diagonal line of the triangle will flash to indicate that you can measure the distance to
the second point.
7. Aim at the point at which the desired measurement distance ends.
8. Press the MEAS button (3) to measure the distance to the end point.
9. The distance between the start and end point will be measured and displayed in the
measurement field (15).
Making measurements with the measuring tape
Proceed as follows to make measurements with the measuring tape:
1. Carefully pull the measuring tape on the hook until the desired length is reached. The
measuring tape will lock in the stopping position.
2. Press the lock button (9) to retract the measuring tape.
The hook is magnetic and therefore attaches well to ferromagnetic materials.
The hook is mounted in a movable position to avoid measurement errors. On walls
it is pushed into the inner position, and on edges it is pulled out to the outer position.
This prevents the width of the hook from being added to the measurement.

Calculation error
Repeat the measurement in accordance with the
steps in these instructions

Low battery
Charge the battery
255
The received signal
is too weak or
measurements take
too long
Improve the reflectivity of the surface (use flat
surfaces or white paper as a target).
Avoid backlight
256
The received signal
is too strong
Improve the reflectivity of the surface (use flat
surfaces as a target or avoid pointing the laser beam
at strong light sources).

Observe the maximum measurement range (up to
40 m)

Hardware error
Switch the device off and back on again, and repeat
if necessary
If the error is still displayed after several attempts,
contact a dealer or specialist workshop.
Cleaning
Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical
solutions, as these may damage the housing or impair the functioning of the device.
• Disconnect the device from the power supply before each cleaning session.
• Use a dry, lint-free cloth to clean the product. Do not allow water to get inside the housing.
• To prevent scratch marks, do not press too hard on the surface of the enclosure or display
when cleaning.
Disposal
This symbol must appear on any electrical and electronic equipment placed on the
EU market. This symbol indicates that this device should not be disposed of as
unsorted municipal waste at the end of its service life.
Owners of WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) shall dispose
of it separately from unsorted municipal waste. Spent batteries and accumulators,
which are not enclosed by the WEEE, as well as lamps that can be removed from
the WEEE in a non-destructive manner, must be removed by end users from the
WEEE in a non-destructive manner before it is handed over to a collection point.
Distributors of electrical and electronic equipment are legally obliged to provide free take-back
of waste. Conrad provides the following return options free of charge (more details on our
website):
• in our Conrad offices
• at the Conrad collection points
• at the collection points of public waste management authorities or the collection points set
up by manufacturers or distributors within the meaning of the ElektroG
End users are responsible for deleting personal data from the WEEE to be disposed of.
It should be noted that different obligations about the return or recycling of WEEE may apply in
countries outside of Germany.
