Charging the battery

To charge the battery, proceed as follows:
1.  Slide the cover for the USB port (5) upwards.
2.  Connect the USB charging cable provided to the USB port and a suitable USB power

source (PC or power adapter).

3.  The battery display (13) will display a charging animation.
4.  The battery display will show a full battery when the charging process is complete.

The laser measuring tape may warm up slightly during the charging process.

Switching on the device

To switch on the distance meter, proceed as follows:
1.  Ensure that the battery is charged.
2.  Hold down the ON/OFF button (4) to switch on the distance meter.

The device switches off automatically after 3 minutes of inactivity.

Settings

a) Units of measurement

Proceed as follows to switch between the different units:
1.  Switch on the device.
2.  Hold down the ON/OFF (4) and MEAS (3) buttons.
3.  The units displayed in the fields for the saved (14) and current measurement (15) will be

switched.

You can switch the units between metres (m), feet (ft), inches (in), and feet and

inches (ft+in).

b) Measurement reference

To switch the measurement reference, proceed as follows:
1.  Switch on the device.
2.  Hold down the SET button.

The measurement reference will be switched between front (front side of the device)

and rear (rear side of the device). The currently selected measurement reference

will be displayed in the measurement reference field (12).

By default, the rear of the device is set as the measurement reference.

Making measurements with the laser

a) General information

Never look into the laser beam and do not point it at people or animals. Laser

radiation can seriously damage your eyes.

Observe the following general information when making measurements with the laser:
•  Measurements can be influenced or distorted by strong sunlight, rain, fog and snow.
•  Always point the laser at flat, reflective surfaces. Highly textured or poorly reflective surfaces

may distort the measurement or make measurements impossible.

•  To improve the reflectivity of the surface, use a target plate or white paper.
•  The laser switches off automatically after 30 seconds of continuous activity.
•  The mode for single measurements is enabled by default when the device is switched on.

To switch between the different measurement modes, hold down the MEAS button (3). The

measurement modes can be selected in the following order:

 - Single measurement

(single distance measurement)

 - Continuous measurement

(distance measurement with continuous update of measurement)

 - Area measurement

(Measures the length and width of a surface and calculates the surface area)

 - Volume measurement

(Measures the length, width and height of a room and calculates the volume)

 - Indirect distance measurement with 2 points

(indirect measurement of distances on the basis of 2 measurements using the Pythago-

rean theorem)

b) Single measurement

To measure a single distance, proceed as follows:
1.  Switch on the device. The mode for single

measurements is enabled by default when the

device is switched on.

2.  Aim at the point whose distance you want to

measure.

3.  Press the MEAS button (3). The measured

value will be displayed in the measurement

field on the display (15).

4.  To repeat the measurement, press the MEAS

button (3) again.

c) Continuous measurement

To make continuous measurements of the distance to a target point, proceed as follows:
1.  Switch on the device and switch to the continuous measurement mode.
2.  Aim at a point whose distance you want to measure.
3.  Press the MEAS button (3). The measured value will be displayed in the measurement field

on the display (15) and updated continuously.

4.  To stop the measurement, press the MEAS button (3) again.
