TROUBLE SHOOTING (cont)
Problem: No foam is being produced inside the collection cup
1.
Possible Cause:The level of micro bubbles inside the skimmer needs to be adjusted.
Solution: Alter water level adjustment dial (3) accordingly.
2.
Possible Cause: Skimmer has just been installed and may take up to 24 hours to
adjust properly to the aquarium system.
Solution: Let the pump run for 24-48 hours to allow the skimmer to establish itself.
3.
Possible Cause:The aquarium is new and/or there is very little organic matter or
detritus to be removed so skimming will be limited.
Solution:The skimmer will start skimming as soon as organic matter or detritus
builds up in the aquarium.
4.
Possible Cause:The skimmer has been positioned too low in the aquarium and the
air intake (4) is below the water surface.
Solution: Re-position skimmer ensuring that the air intake (4) is above the surface of
the water in your aquarium (please see diagram 2).
Problem:Water is rapidly overflowing into the collection cup
1.
Possible Cause:Water level inside main skimmer body may be too high.
Solution: Alter water level adjustment dial (3) accordingly.
2.
Possible Cause:Water is not being discharged through the water outlet (6).
Solution: Check for blockage and clean as required.
3.
Possible Cause:The skimmer has been positioned too low in the aquarium and the
air intake (4) is below the water surface.
Solution: Re-position skimmer ensuring that the air intake (4) is above the surface of
the water in your aquarium (please see diagram 2).
PLEASE NOTE
With any protein skimmer it is perfectly normal for some bubbles to pass through the
skimmer and enter into the aquarium.
This generally occurs when the skimmer has been installed on a new aquarium or an
aquarium where there is very little organic matter and/or detritus to be removed.
The majority of these bubbles will be used in the skimming process when there is
sufficient organic matter and/or detritus to be removed and the skimmer starts to skim.
If you feel it is necessary, you can turn the water level adjustment dial (3) to reduce the
water flow entering the aquarium from the skimmer. This should only be necessary on a
temporary basis.
