PROBLEM CAUSE REMEDY
4. Engine starts but stops after 5
seconds. A. Engine shutdown circuit may
have functioned normally to
prevent engine damage due to
low oil pressure. A. View the GCM display for an
engine fault relating to low oil
pressure. The oil pressure sensor
may be fault and require
replacement. Contact the engine
manufacturer or TLD if necessary.
5. Engine will not come up to rated
speed when an output is selected
using the RED, YELLOW, or
GREEN buttons. Or, engine does
not stay at rated speed once an
output is selected. A. The screen displays “Aircraft
Rejected AC Power, No EF
Signal”. A. The GCM is not getting the EF
control signal from the aircraft.
Check all the connections carrying
this signal, and repair if
necessary. Alternatively, power
quality may be unacceptable to
the aircraft. Check for faulty
connections in the generator
control circuit.
B. The screen displays a power
fault signal (frequency, voltage, or
overload). B. Perform a check for anything
that may change the output of the
GPU. This includes faulty
connections, faulty sensing
components (current
transformers), bad grounding, or
generator damage. If the
generator is overloaded, reduce
the load from the aircraft.
C. The screen displays
“28VDC CIRCUIT
OVERHEATED”. C. The optional TR circuit has
overheated. Allow the unit to cool
for 10 minutes before operating
again. Reduce the load on the
28VDC circuit.
D. The screen displays
“AIR FILTER CLOGGED” D. Check the air filter minder
connections for shorts. Change
the engine air filter if necessary.
E. The screen displays
“CONTACTOR STUCK” E. Check the connections at the
auxiliary contacts (terminals 1 and
2) on the contactors. When the
contactor is closed, a 24VDC
signal will be sent to the GCM.
Apply 24VDC directly across the
output contactor coil (terminals X+
and Y- on K16 or K17). If the
contactor does not close, then
replace the contactor.
