3.
Testing
A.
Functional Test:
1. Power Output Test: Performed to determine if the microwave oven is
heating to specification.
A.
Fill a microwave safe container with exactly 1 liter of water.
B.
Using the thermometer, measure the temperature of the water.
C.
Put water container into the microwave. Heat the water for 65
seconds.
D.
Using the thermometer, measure the water temperature after Step C.
E.
Record the difference in water temperature from the beginning of the
test to the end of the test. The temperature rise indicates the power
output for the microwave. 8º F is the minimum acceptable
temperature rise.
2. Door Leakage Test:
A.
With the door closed and a load inside the Microwave Oven, turn the
microwave on. Using the microwave survey meter, measure the area
where the door contacts the liner around the entire perimeter of the
door.
B.
The door leakage must be < 1 MIL-WATT/CM
2
. If the door has been
removed and realigned or replaced, this test must be performed.
3. Burn-In Test: Only required when the high voltage components, (ie,
Magnetron, Transformer) have been replaced. Operate the microwave with
a load inside for 20 minutes. During the test, the microwave should operate
continuously and remain ON.
4. Input Power: Check the input current draw routinely for the following:
Voltage:
115 VAC
Amperage: 10 amps ± 10%
5. Control Panel Operation: The On/Off, Plus and Minus buttons must
operate correctly.
