Shoulder fixation orthosis
Purpose
Schulter-Fix Basic and Schulter-Fix Forte are orthoses for immobilising shoulder
joints in fixed positions. The orthoses may only be used for shoulder treatment.
Mode of action/Description
The shoulder fixation orthosis holds and fixes the arm in place at the shoulder
joint in the position required medically. The orthosis can be individually adapted
to the fitting requirements thanks to the numerous options for adjustment. All
functions and fastenings are equipped with comfortable velcro systems that are
easy to use.
Indications
Shoulder injuries and diseases, (e.g. sprains, distortions), dislocations, post-
operative.
Contraindications
Larger skin lesions or diseases in the affected area, extended hematoma and severe
swelling.
Side effects
None reported when applied and worn as intended.
Putting on the orthosis
A. Take the orthosis out of the packaging and spread out all four parts separetely.
B. Place the torso belt (1) around the body below the chest and close the Velcro
fastening at the front.
C. Select the height of the torso belt so that afterwards (as described under D) the
upper arm can be fixed to the torso belt (1) with the upper arm band (2). Here and
in the following procedure ensure that it remains free of wrinkles.
D. Place the upper arm band (2) around the upper arm directly above the elbow joint
and close it. The outer Velcro strip must be positioned on the inside of the arm
facing the body. Fixate the shoulder by attaching the upper arm band (2) to the
torso belt (1)in accordance with the physician’s instructions.
E. Place the wrist band (3) around the wrist, close it and fix it to the torso belt (1) by
means of the Velcro strip. The elbow joint should be positioned at a right angle.
F. Close the hand-holding band (4) around the fingers of the hand to be fixated and
fasten it by means of the Velcro strip on the torso belt (1).
