Foreword
Performing scheduled maintenance operations is important in obtaining safe, reliable operation of your vehicle. A
proper maintenance program will also help to minimize downtime and safeguard warranties.
IMPORTANT: The maintenance operations in this manual are not all-inclusive . Also refer to other
component and body manufacturers’ instructions for specific inspection and maintenance instructions.
Perform the pretrip inspection and daily maintenance as outlined in the Saf-T-Liner C2 School Bus Driver’s Manual .
Perform the maintenance operations in this manual at scheduled intervals based on the distance the vehicle has
traveled or hours of operation. Your Freightliner dealership has qualified technicians and equipment to perform this
maintenance.

Always start and operate the engine in a well-ventilated area. If in an enclosed area, vent the exhaust to
the outside. Do not modify or tamper with the exhaust system. Do not idle the engine except as neces-
sary.

Do not replace suspension, axle, or steering parts (such as springs, wheels, hubs, and steering gears) with used
