Displays Help information for the instrument and software
Stage Up/Stage
Down
Brings the sample into focus at the current stage location. Drag the
scroll box up or down for coarse focus. Use the up and down arrow
buttons for fine focus.
NOTICE
Avoid possible damage to your sample or the objective lens.
If you need to move the stage a great distance along the Z-axis, open
the sample compartment doors and use the Focus knob on the stage
controller to move the stage while you watch the sample to avoid
bumping the sample into the lens.
Video pane
, shows a live image of the sample surface captured by
the microscope’s video camera. The limits of the video pane are
defined by the magnification and numerical aperture of the currently
selected
Mosaic pane
Before you collect a
, this pane shows a static
picture of the sample as it appears when viewed through the
microscope eyepiece (one field of view). After you collect a mosaic or a
terrain mosaic, the mosaic appears in the mosaic pane.
Spectral pane
• In
, if a spectrum was displayed in this pane in Image
Regions, Image Cross Section, or Live Spectrum mode, the
spectrum will remain displayed when you switch to Video mode.
• In
Image Regions mode
and
Image Cross Section mode

), the spectral pane shows the
spectrum collected at the current cursor location in a region of
acquired chemical image data. The spectral pane is also used for
specifying peak heights and areas for the peak height, peak area,
and other profile types.

Live Spectrum mode
, shows the spectrum acquired at the
current cursor location.

Acquisition
settings
Settings available to acquire spectral data in
Image Regions mode

Image Cross Section mode
. The settings affect the quality and speed of
acquired chemical image data. A limited set is available in

Spectrum mode

Profile settings
Defines the algorithm used to convert the spectral data into a color
map, referred to as a chemical image. The chemical image is created in
Image Regions mode
