• Verify the laser is on. Choose
Collect > Experiment Setup > Bench tab
and set
Detector to Main. Open the main sample compartment and place a sheet of white
paper in the beam path. You should see a red spot where the laser beam hits the paper.
If the laser is off, contact our local service representative for technical support.
• Align the spectrometer by choosing
Align
from the Diagnostic tab in Experiment
Setup.
Touch Point performance test failed
If this message appears after you press the ATR Touch Point, the performance test has failed
because the instrument failed to collect three consecutive scans that are close to the same size.
Make sure you see the laser beam through the ATR crystal (it looks like a red spot). If you
don’t see the laser, it is not working or something is blocking the infrared beam such as a
mirror or validation wheel sample that is out of place). Take these steps:
• Turn off the power switch for the spectrometer, wait 5 seconds and then turn the power
back on.
• If the laser is still not visible through the ATR crystal, choose
Collect > Advanced
Diagnostics
and click the
Laser
icon to check its status. If a laser test has failed, contact
our local service representative for technical support.
