DA Assembly
From the QCell, the ion beam is focused onto a small differential
aperture (DA plate), which separates the intermediate vacuum stage
from the high vacuum analyzer region. Directly behind the DA plate,
the beam is deflected again by the DA lens to remove residual (collision)
gas particles from the ion beam.
Mass Analyzer
Quadrupole
The ions are then introduced into the quadrupole mass analyzer, which
filters out ions of a specific mass to charge ratio, depending on the
RF voltage and DC voltage applied to the quadrupole rods.
Detector
Ions transmitted through the quadrupole are finally transferred to the
dual mode secondary electron multiplier (SEM) and detected.
