6.2. Plasma arc cutting (prior to operation)
1. Fit the main power lead, check that the input voltage is correct, the main power lead
plugs in to the EX-TRACK
®
on the left side Power in/Connection Panel, and check for a
secure fit.
2. Connect the plasma power supply to the EX-TRACK
®
CNC System using the Plasma
Interface Cable, the cable plugs in to the EX-TRACK
®
on the left side Power in/
Connection.
3. Fit the torch height controller lead from the transverse rail to the EX-TRACK
®
on the left
side Power in/Connection.
4. Feed the plasma torch lead set through the transverse rail (it may be necessary to
remove the rail cover) and fit the torch in to the torch mounting. Secure the torch after
checking its alignment, check for free movement.
5. Inspect the consumables, replace as required and check fit up.
6. Refer to the plasma power supply Instruction Manual for additional setup guidance.
In operation
1. Whenever possible, keep the material to be cut parallel to the longitudinal rail.
2. Refer to the plasma power supply cut charts to ensure they correspond with the values
shown in the CNC system.
3. Prior to plasma arc ignition, the work area should be vacated by non-essential
personnel. Operators should use the most appropriate piercing method to reduce
flying sparks and damage to the torch/consumables and system
4. Adjust the cutting parameters accordingly through the CNC program.
5. Whilst operating the system, the operator should remain vigilant and be aware any
unusual changes to the operating system and the work area, upon discovery of any
form of danger, the operator should press the E-Stop button.
6. The operator should be aware that after cutting a profile, the torch should be raised to
prevent a collision when moving to the next start point.
7. It is advisable to wear gloves when changing consumables as the torch may be hot
from the cutting process, there may also be sharp deposits of spatter/dross stuck to the
consumables.
8. When using an overhead crane or other lifting device to move the cut profiles or scrap
material, ensure that the EX-TRACK
®
will not be damaged.
End of shift / day
1. Ensure that the torch is in the home position, isolate the system from the electrical input
power supply and from the plasma power supply.
2. Clean down the main unit, rails and rack, use lubricants as required, do not use
excessive amounts of lubricant as this will attract contaminants.
3. Leave the work area clean and tidy, with tools correctly stored.
