Towing

If the Locomotive fails at a distant location on the track it can be towed by implementing the following
steps.

1. Unload all passengers. The Operator must remain seated on the Locomotive Tender.

2. Set the Key Switch to the

ON

position, turn Light

OFF

, turn Smoke

OFF

.

3. Secure an appropriate rope or chain to the Locomotive Pilot, or couple a towing Locomotive to the

last car of the disabled train.

4. Rotate the Speed Control Knob to approximately the two o’clock position if the train is to be towed

forward, or the ten o’clock position if the train is to be towed in reverse.

5. Begin towing the train.
