Application by the Orthopedic
Technician
1.
Select the fitting size according to the
neck circumference.
2.
Glue the included felt insert into the
anterior support brace.
3.
Place the anterior and posterior support
braces below the center of the chin and
the back of the head of the patient.
4.
Check the position of the rim of the
orthosis.
5.
If necessary, a slight extension of the
cervical spine can be achieved by turning
the knurled nuts on the front and rear
support shells.
Important Information
• In acute cases, the Ortho-Collar may only be
donned or doffed after consultation with the
attending physician.
• If the patient is in acute pain, a second
person should help with donning and
doffing the orthosis.
Donning and Doffing of the Ortho-
Collar by the Patient
1.
Open only one of the lateral hook-and-
loop fasteners to don the orthosis.
2.
Position the back support shell in a way so
the padded shell centrally frames the back
of the head.
3.
Position the front support shell in a way
so the padded shell centrally frames the chin.
4.
Close the lateral hook-and-loop fastener.
