2.4.4. Sound signals
-
If the device is working, beeping signals can be heard when pressing its button.
2.4.5. Using the device
-
The programming and installing of the device, then data reading out of the
measured data are performed in different time. However, the obtained data can be
evaluated not only later than the recordings, but in different, remote place, as well.
-
The programming of Arteriograph24™ could be done by a person who is familiar
with the use of the software of the device and have read the User’s Manual.
However, the medical indication of the Arteriograph24™ measurement, and the
evaluation of the obtained data can only be done by a physician.
-
Choose the proper size cuff, based on the arm circumference of the patient;
-
the length of the bladder of the cuff should be >80% of the arm circumference,
-
the width of the bladder of the cuff should be 40% of the arm circumference.
(Circulation. 2005;111:697-716)
-
Place the cuff on the non-dominant arm, or on the arm, where the office blood
pressure was the higher
-
Place the cuff with the tube exiting the cuff upward in the region of the brachial
artery. Make sure that the hosing allows for free ambulation
-
If the chosen cuff is appropriate to the patient’s arm circumference, the metal hook
will be positioned between the two markers labelled white on the surface of the cuff
-
We recommend installing the cuff onto a thin, long sleeve shirt to increase comfort
during wearing.
-
The tube of the cuff should be inserted into the air connector of the device (see
figure 1).
Attention! Please, take care of the connection of the cuff because it
should not be too loose, it should not leak. You can connect it properly if you insert
the plug with a twisting motion until it stops.
-
During measurements avoid any muscle movement, particularly in the arm, as this
may lead to longer measurement or measurement error and it may decrease the
accuracy of the measurement. The patient should stop as the cuff started
pressurization and should keep calm until the cuff is deflated. Avoid speaking and
muscle movements.
-
Ask the patient to keep a diary (daily activities, symptoms, the time of going to bed
and waking up in the morning, the time of the drug intake, etc.)
-
The extension of the duration of the Arteriograph24™ measurement series over 24
hours is rarely justified. Although the Arteriograph24™ is appropriate for longer (e.g.
48 hours) measurement period, but in this case the physician should evaluate the
advantages and additive clinical value from the extended measuring period, compared
to the inconvenience, caused by the longer duration of the measuring process.
