Maintenance (Continued)
CLEANING/REPLACING THE
SHALLOW WELL EJECTOR
1. Disconnect power and release all
pressure on system before
proceeding.
2. Unscrew air volume control
compression nut from fitting on
ejector body. Remove tube from
fitting.
3. Remove suction piping from pump.
4. Remove two capscrews holding
shallow well ejector to pump body.
5. Remove ejector from pump body. Be
careful not to damage gasket.
6. Remove venturi by unscrewing it
(turn counter-clockwise; See Figure
28).
7. Remove nozzle (if necessary) by
unscrewing it with a 5/8” deep well
socket wrench (See Figure 29).
8. Clean venturi and nozzle by carefully
inserting an ice pick or other small
diameter pointed tool or wire, and
dislodging foreign material.
IMPORTANT: Be careful not to enlarge
hole in nozzle or venturi. If it is not
possible to remove nozzle, it may be
cleaned in place. In this case, flush loose
debris out of ejector by running water
through the nozzle in the same
direction as the dislodging tool was
inserted. If venturi and nozzle cannot
be cleaned or are damaged while
cleaning, replace.
9. Replace nozzle and venturi by
turning in clock-wise until snug. DO
NOT overtighten.
10. Reinstall shallow well ejector,
gasket, capscrews, and pump suction
piping.
11. Prime pump as described under
“Operation”.
REMOVING OLD SEAL
1. Follow instructions under “Pump
Disassembly.”
2. Follow steps 1 through 5 under
“Cleaning/Replacing Impeller.”
3. Remove rotating half of seal by
placing two screwdrivers under
sealing washer and carefully prying
up (See Figure 30).
IMPORTANT: Be sure you do not scratch
or mar shaft; if shaft is marred, it must
be dressed smooth with fine emery or
crocus cloth before installing new seal.
DO NOT reduce shaft diameter!
4. Remove seal plate.
5. Place seal plate face down on flat
surface and tap out stationary half of
seal (See Figure 31).
INSTALLING NEW SEAL
1. Clean seal cavity in seal plate; clean
shaft.
2. Wet outer edge of Rubber Cup on
ceramic seat with liquid soap. Be
sparing!
3. Put clean cardboard washer on seal
face. With thumb pressure, press
ceramic half of seal firmly and
squarely into seal cavity (See Figure
32). Polished face of ceramic seat is
up. If seal will not seat correctly,
remove, placing seal face up on
bench. Reclean cavity. Seal should
now seat correctly.
