8. Adjust the four corners of the platen by using a
3/16 in. hex-key wrench, until the platen is just above
the height of the GO end on the GO NO-GO gauge.
Note:
Turning the wrench clockwise will increase the
gap between the platen and the lower cooking
surface. Turning the wrench counterclockwise will
decrease the gap.
9. Select a corner adjustment block to start in. Rotate
the GO gauge with the end positioned beneath the
adjustment block. Lower the corner until the upper
platen surface first makes contact with the GO
gauge. Moving in a clockwise direction, adjust each
of the remaining corners until the upper platen
surface just comes in contact with the GO gauge.
Note:
You may find that after three corners are
adjusted to touch the GO end of the gauge, the fourth
corner rests slightly higher. In this case, adjust the
corner directly opposite of the higher corner in order
to balance the difference. When the platen is level,
the cables should not be loose. There should be
some tension on each cable, although it may not be
equal.
10. Tighten down all four locknuts with a 3/8 in.
straight-blade screwdriver.
11. Insert the 3/16 in. hex-key wrench into the
adjustment screw and try to turn it clockwise. If it can
be turned, the locking screw is not tight against the
adjustment screw. Take it apart and reassemble by
threading the screw into the base by one thread and
then into the adjustment block by one thread. Re-gap
the grill.
Insert the 3/16 in. hex-key wrench into the
adjustment screw again and verify that it cannot be
turned clockwise. If it cannot be turned, proceed to
the next step. Otherwise, repeat the corrective
measures taken in this step until the screw cannot be
turned.
12. Cycle the platen up and down three times and then
check with the GO gauge to validate that the platen
remains level. At this point, the platen should be
level, and all fine adjustments to the gap setting will
be made using the control.
Adjusting the Gap Offset
1. Check the gap setting with the GO NO-GO gauge
(X79617). If the gap setting is within the correct
tolerance, no further adjustments to the platen are
necessary and you can proceed to step 6.
2. If the gap setting does not pass the GO NO-GO
inspection, fine adjustments can be made in the
controls Gap Calibration mode.
3. Adjust the gap offset by pressing the Up arrow key to
increase the offset or the Down arrow key to
decrease the offset. (Each increment represents
approximately one thousandth [.001] of an inch.)
Continue to adjust, until the new setting made with
the control is within the tolerance range of the GO
NO-GO gauge.
4. Exit the calibration mode by pressing the EXIT key
until the control returns to the User Menu.
5. Press the RAISE button to raise the platen to the
Open position.
6. After the platen gap has been set correctly, re-install
the platen cover.
7.
Repeat this procedure
for the remaining platens.
