PREPARING THE VEHICLE FOR THE DRIVE

Check level of water
in Windshield washer reservoir.
Top up with clean water if required.
Use good quality cleaning solvent available in the
market in the ratio as specified by its manufacturer.
11. Check oil level in power steering hydraulic tank, where
applicable.
12. Check and correct tyre inflation pressure ( with cold
tyres ).

BEFORE DRIVING
Check

Fuel level
l
Coolant level
l
Engine oil level
l
Tyre pressure
l
Brake and clutch fluid level
l
Doors are firmly closed
Adjust
l
Driver seat
l
Rear view mirrors
Ensure
l
Gear shift lever is in neutral
position.
l
All switches and lamps are
working.
l
Brake fail indicator is ‘OFF’
Start the engine and observe that :
l
Low oil pressure indicator light
goes ‘OFF’
l
Battery charging indicator light
goes ‘OFF’
l
DO NOT CRANK ENGINE WHEN
GLOW PLUG INDICATOR IS ‘ON’
l
ENSURE THAT PARKING BRAKE IS
RELEASED (INDICATOR LAMP ‘OFF’)
l
VEHICLE IS NOW READY FOR A
DRIVE.
l
DO NOT ALLOW VEHICLE TO ROLL
BACK ON GRADIENTS.
Stopping the engine :
a.
Park the vehicle in safe place. Apply
parking brake.
b.
If NA engine, stop the engine by
turning ignition switch to ‘OFF’
position.
c.
If turbocharges engine run the
engine idle for atleast 30 seconds
and then switch off this will allow
the engine oil to lubricate the turbo
charger, till its speed is fully reduced
and also allow the unit to cool
down.
