About Remote Logging
The event log is always stored locally on the VCS. However, it is
often convenient to collect copies of all event logs from various
systems in a single location. A computer running a BSD-style
syslog server, as defined in
, may be used as the
central log server.
Remote syslog server
Enter the IP address or FQDN
of the server to which the log
will be written.
This server must support
the BSD syslog protocol. It
cannot be another VCS.

About Logging
The VCS provides an event logging facility
for troubleshooting and auditing purposes.
The event log records information about such
things as calls, registrations, and messages
sent and received.
The VCS logging facility allows you to:
specify the amount of information that is
•
logged. This is done by changing the event
log level
copy the event log to a remote syslog server.
•
Overview
A VCS will not act as a central logging server for other
systems.
Events will be always logged locally (i.e. to the Event Log) regardless of
whether or not remote logging has been enabled.
