Installing the Tabletop SCSI Tape Drive

This section contains step-by-step instructions for installing the tabletop 

SCSI tape drive.

Identifying the Steps

Installing the tabletop SCSI tape drive is fast and easy when you follow 

the instructions in this section in the order presented. Complete the 

following steps, covered in the next few sections:

Unpack and check the tape drive for shipping damage.

Select a location near the server or workstation that is to 
host the tape drive.

Set the SCSI ID for the tape drive, if you do not want to 
use the factory-set default.

Shut down and power off the server or workstation that 
is to host the tape drive.

Install an LVD/SE SCSI host adapter in the server or 
workstation, if necessary.

Connect the SCSI cable to the tape drive and SCSI host 
adapter.

Connect the terminator on the tape drive—if it is the last 
or only device on the SCSI bus.

Connect the power cable to the tape drive, server or 
workstation, and all peripheral devices. Plug the power 
cable into the nearest power outlet and apply power to 
all devices.

Check the tape drive to make sure it is working properly.
