4 - STORAGE

The Hydrants should be stored in a location that protects them

from any pollution or contamination. Do not store the hydrants

out of doors. During the storage period, the hydrants must be

protected (e.g. by covering them with a tarpaulin) against outside

influences and impurities like:
- Humidity and rain, to avoid corrosion,
- Wind and sand, to avoid the penetration of solid particles that

could damage the guiding area and seat,

- Sunshine and heat, to prevent oxidation of the elastomer and

coating due by ultraviolet light.

Take into account also that long storage under severe conditions

can cause damage to the coating, elastomer and seals.
Leave the shut-off cone in the closed position in order to avoid to

damage it.
Take care to not damage the coating. Ensure that the hydrants

is stored in a stable position. Store hydrants lying in a stable

horizontal position.
If long-time storage is required, the place of storage should be

selected in such a way that the following conditions are met:

frost-protected - cool - dry - dust-free - dark (for elastomer

UV-light is inadmissible). If it is impossible to comply with these

conditions, the hydrants must be packed to meet the above

mentioned requirements (e.g. they must be sealed inside dark

plastic sheets).
The protective flange covers or packing should be kept up to the

assembly phase.
The valves are designed for a storage temperature of – 20°C to

+50°C.

5 - INSTALLATION

INTO THE PIPELINE

WARNING

Before installation, refer to

technical leaflet W331 from DVGW

for deployment, installation and

implementation.

 5.1  Location of installation

Warning! After installation, it is important that all around the

hydrant there is free access for operation and maintenance.

 5.2  Assembly positions

Our hydrants are designed to be installed and assembled only in

the vertical position.

 5.3  Installation

Prior to installation:
•  Remove all packing material from the hydrant, as well as

the protective flange covers.

•  Check configuration of the material in order to control the

compatibility of the hydrant with the fluid that is going to

flow inside and with the external environment.

•  By turning the operating square cap anti-clockwise, and

clockwise open and close the hydrant to check its integrity

and ensure that it works properly. If it does not, or if any

damage is observed, inform us immediately.

•  Clean off any dirt which may have settled on the sealing

surface during transport or storage. Check if there are

foreign bodies that could prevent correct operation.

•  Check that pipeline is free from impurities and foreign

matter. If necessary flush and clean the pipeline in order to

evacuate all foreign matter. Foreign matter, residue or dirt

might damage the shut-off cone or affect the operation of

the hydrant and even block it.

•  Check that the gaskets’ seats on the duck foot bend (N-piece)

and that the gasket of the hydrant flange are perfectly clean

and free from stripes, which may prevent watertight sealing.

If necessary, clean the flange of the duck foot bend (N-piece)

to remove any particles or dirt which may have been deposited

there.

•  Check that the flanges of the duck foot bend (N-piece) are

drilled in accordance with the same standards as the hydrants.

•  The mating flange of the duck foot bend (N-piece) must be in

the horizontal plan position.

When connecting the hydrant to the pipe, avoid the transmission

of stress from the pipe to the hydrant body. Make sure that the

distance between the top of the operating square cap and the

Ground level is between 90 to 220 mm (as requested in technical

leaflet W331 from DVGW / see figure 5).
As the hydrant is delivered with a built-in inlet flange gasket

(which is reinforced by a composite insert) , do not :
•  Use an extra flange gasket to connect the hydrant to the

network.

•  Remove the built in inlet flange gasket to replace it by a

standard flange gasket.

It is required to install an isolation valve on the pipe, upstream of

the inlet of the hydrant, in order to isolate it from the network for

maintenance work.
For stability, the duck foot bend (N-piece) must be sufficiently

anchored by means of a concrete block or by any other appropriate

means.
For assembly, 8 bolts with size of M16 are necessary. For each

flange’s hole, washers shall be placed on both sides of the

flange’s assembly:
