Figure 7-7

presents a block diagram of the PS-ATS power supply circuits and voltage

inputs and outputs.

The PS-ATS includes two separate switch mode, DC-to-DC converters that convert

the –48VDC input power to the +5V and +3.3V outputs. Another switch mode,

DC-to-DC converter, along with two regulators provide the +12V and –12V output.

Filtering circuitry minimizes ripple and noise on the –48VDC feed to the Control

cards.

The PS-ATS also contains Hot Swap circuitry for redundancy purposes.

The Control and Alarm (monitoring) circuitry verifies that each voltage output (with

the exception of the –48VDC output) is within specification. Should an output voltage

deviate from specification, the monitoring circuitry produces an alarm signal to the

system processor (displayed on the PI terminal), causing the red

Fail

indicator to

illuminate. Additionally, the green

Power

indicator remains illuminated when power

is supplied to the system.

If the Voltage input drops below –40VDC, then the PS-ATS shuts down.
