Angle
The scanning angle is important for quick bar code decoding and to
avoid “blinding” the scanner. “Blinding” can occur when the
scanner’s laser beam reflects directly back into the scanner from the
bar code.
For the scanner to successfully decode:
•
Hold the unit directly in front of the bar code at a slight angle.
•
Do not scan at a sharp angle or the decode will not be success-
ful.
•
Practice several test scans to find the proper angle.
Scanning and Power Save Modes
If the terminal is in Doze or Sleep mode, pressing the scanner
buttons will not return the terminal to normal mode.
To return to Normal mode:
•
Press a key on the keyboard.
•
Press the pen anywhere on the display.
Note:
Pressing the Scan icon on the Direct Access panel will re-
turn the terminal to normal mode but will not activate
the scanner. You must press the icon a second time to
scan.
