Chapter 4: Motherboard Connections

4.2 Headers and Connectors

Fan Headers

There are six fan headers on the motherboard. These are 4-pin fan headers; pins 1-3 are
backward compatible with traditional 3-pin fans. The onboard fan speeds are controlled by
Thermal Management via BIOS. When using the Thermal Management setting, please use
all 3-pin fans or all 4-pin fans.

The Supermicro Advanced I/O Module (AIOM) PCIe 3.0 x16 slot (JAIOM) can be utilized to

offer additional LAN ports, VPU, storage devices, etc. on the motherboard. Please visit the

Supermicro website for all available module options. Also, please note that it is mandatory
to unplug power cords prior to removing or installing an AIOM module card.

A Chassis Intrusion header is located at JL1 on the motherboard. Connect an appropriate
cable from JL1 to the chassis so that you can be informed of a chassis intrusion (via IPMI)

when the system case is opened. Refer to the table below for pin definitions.

VROC RAID Key Header

A VROC RAID Key header is located at JRK1. Install a VROC RAID key on JRK1 for NVMe
RAID support as shown in the illustration below.
