Chapter 3: Maintenance and Component Installation

Removing a Hot-Swap Drive Carrier from the Chassis

1. Press the release button on the drive carrier, which will extend the drive carrier handle.

2. Use the drive carrier handle to pull the drive out of the chassis.

3.6 Storage Drives

The system supports twelve hot-swap 3.5" NVMe/SAS/SATA storage drives in hybrid bays. 
For compatible storage drives, use the 

X12SPI-TF motherboard page.

The drives are mounted in toolless drive carriers that simplify their removal from the chassis. 

These carriers also help promote proper airflow.

Note: 

Enterprise level hard disk drives are recommended for use in Supermicro chassis and 

servers. For information on recommended HDDs, visit the Supermicro website product pages 
at 

www.supermicro.com/products
